A high-level course in wines for those working with wines or the serious wine enthusiast.
This six-day course will develop to a high-level their ability to describe wine accurately, and focus in detail on the style, quality and price of wines. Our experienced educators will assist them to develop their analytic tasting abilities through a carefully selected series of 82 wine samples.
Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
Prior Knowledge: This course is open to students who have passed the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. If they do not hold the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits, but have obtained the relevant knowledge and experience, they are eligible to gain entry through successful completion of an online entry test.
Delivery: This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including 30 hours of classroom delivery time over 6 days.
Assessment: The exam is assessed in two parts, which take place in the last session of the course:
- A combined theory paper consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions and four short written answer questions.
- A tasting paper consisting of a blind tasting of two wines.
A mark of 55% is required in both parts to pass.
